Resource packs: resolution, style and compatibility

Resource packs change how Minecraft looks or sounds. They can replace block textures, interface elements, item models and audio. Choose a pack for your edition and game version; Java resource packs and Bedrock packs use different formats.

A higher resolution is not always a better choice. Detailed textures can use more memory, while a simple pack may be easier to read during building or combat. Compare screenshots and check whether extra features require a specific rendering mod.

In Java Edition, place the pack in the resourcepacks folder or open that folder from the resource pack settings screen. Activate the pack in the game and check the pack order when using several together. Keep the original archive until you confirm that everything loads correctly.
